I'm going to be talking about these people so here's sort of a reference of their names and roles
Ben: Alcoholic General Contractor who we fired about 2 months ago
Bob: Lazy man who did crapy work and is now claiming that he injured himself on the job. I fired him last wednesday.
Frank: The main guy who's here everyday still and does great work but charges (in my opinion) way too much. He also happens to be Bob's neighbor.
Funny Side Note: For a while after we fired Ben, it was just Frank and Bob working who I affectionately called "Frank n' Beans" but not in front of them.
ALSO: Ben the hurt leg guy is not the Alcoholic. I get the names confused all the time, but they are different guys.
OK, so the update is that Scot last night told me that after Bob originally fell he was saying that if he didn't have this job that he would have to file a claim against us. Scott is ready to just tell Bob that if he does pursue this any further that he will take action against Bob for extortion.
Thanks Sue (blast from the past)! I forwarded your message to Scott and we are going to decide what to do. When we originally lost all that money with our first renovation company Home Sweet Home, we filed a claim to the recovery fund with the ROC (regestrar of contractors) and after about 5 months we found out that we were getting nothing back because the max payout for the fund with HSH was only 200,000 dollars total!!!! We were already out 90,000 and we're just one family. There were over 100 families who lost money. My faith in the ROC is sort of tainted, but we'll definately look into it.
The reason why none of the contractors we've hired in the aftermath are licensed, is simply because we figured why should we get someone who's licensed? A lot of good that did the first time around. I'm definately going to put in a call to our home owners ins though, just to let them know what's going on.
A while back, I started compiling a list of all the things I could do to earn money to help pay for all this... I have some more ideas
Here are my original ideas:
1) Car wash? Seems to me people turn to this all the time. Do you live in the ghetto and have a friend to died and you can't afford the funeral? I'm thing it's Car Wash time baby!
2)Organize a "walk" I get emails often to donate to the breast cancer walk, or the autism walk. I think I'm going to start a "walk for victims of Home Sweet Home construction. Donations can be made to our personal bank account. People will do anything for a free t-shirt!
3)Drug Dealing? This may sound extreme, but I'm willing to brush up on my knowledge of illegeal street drugs.
4)Become a stripper. Those girls can make hundreds of dollars a night! Granted, I have no pole dancing skills but I'm a fast learner.
Another idea that just came to me:
5) Sell my eggs on the black market. I'm a healthy almost 27 yr old, those things have got to be worth a pretty penny!
I'm open to other suggestions :)

Katy, not sure if you know this, but my brother Damon is a construction management dude. He knows how to build, lay, etc. Not sure if you do facebook, but I know he's on there. Right now he is working in Utah (he was working in LA last year) but he's worked in AZ every summer while he was in school. I'm sure he could tell you some honorable/honest names of people in AZ who could do an accurate and efficient job without costing you another arm and leg.
