Things are looking up

So, don't get me wrong, we love it here and we're glad we've made the move, but since we've been here we have been hit with the harsh reality that we still own a home in Phoenix and are paying everything like we still live there and trying to find a place in Denver too. Ahhhhhh! So, we've decided to rent for a year, which I kind of have a love hate relationship with right now. I love the idea of just paying someone once a month and not having to take daily trips to home depot. If something breaks, it's not my fault etc.. However, I hate the idea of paying for someone else's investment. I sort of find apartment life depressing. No painting, no personalizing, no fun! I was really wanting to find a cool hip place downtown that had 2 bedrooms so we could actually have a place for people to stay when you all come visit but the reality again hit me. Renting a condo in DT Denver is muy muy expensive and I don't want to throw more of our money away then we have to. I was constantly searching craig's list, rent.com and rentals.com trying to find my golden ticket. I called on tons of condos, houses and didn't get any returns. I looked at about 10 different big suburban apartment complexes only to be left with a feeling of "ughhhhhh." Then on the last day, or "D" day to pull the trigger on a place to live, I searched craig's list one more time and found an interesting looking condo. The kitchen was large-ish all updated with granite and breakfast bar. Cool neighborhood and in our price range. I was naturally skeptical. I called and left a message for the lady asking "are those kitchen pictures you have posted actually the kitchens in the units you're renting?" She said Yep, so I was off to see for myself. I was gretted with a nice cute building. Sort of retro 50's style with swing doors and portal style windows. I saw the one bedroom and totally fell in love. I told her I wanted it and that I would go get her $100 to hold it. I literally walked accross the street to the safeway and by the time I got back she was informed that her colleuge had shown that same condo earlier that day and that it was under contract. Nooooooooooooooooooo! Remember, this was D day. It was either this condo or a huge suburb apartment complex. So, I'm totally dissapointed! The super nice realtor though, says how about a 2 bedroom. Which is my renters dream, but to which I reply..." I don't want to pay 1200 a month for something I don't own." That's totally reasonable right? So, she feels bad for me (by the way I had the identical situation happen to be the day before with another condo, fell in love and then it didn't work out) So, she took pitty on me and rented me the 2 bedroom for way way under the listing price. She was so kind and I felt like the housing gods were smiling upon us! Lord knows we deserve it! The next day I filled out the paperwork and we move in March 15th!!! I've never been so excited to rent in my life! The place is really big for a 2 bedroom and our huge king size bedroom furniture will fit which is so nice because we were going to have to rent a storage space (yet more money.) We are about 2 miles from the official downtown where the highrises are, but we are still very much in Downtown Denver. Really cool restaruants and shops walking distance. Great neighborhood with old huge victorian homes and pristine manicures lawns.

That same day I fineally got a call back on a job I'd applied for too. I had my interview today and nailed it. I really hope I get it. It's a projcet manager position for a granite fabricator. It's in Golden CO, which is sooo beautiful. Keep your fingers crossed everyone. I will know by the end of the week whether or not I got it!

So, to sum things up... things are looking up!
