2) Is Bob Barr black or bi-racial? He's been known as "the other black candidate" but i can not find ANY conslusive information on his ethnicity. Under his Wiki profile he's stated as being a White Male. Well at least we know one thing for sure... he's male.

ok, another thing... this makes 3.
I'm assuming most of you have made up your minds and I know as Keiko said, maybe we shouldn't talk politics, but hey, it's my blog and I'll do what I want... So... Why do you like your candidate. I mean REALLY why do you like them? I have very strong feelings for both candidates, likes and strong dislikes, but I want to know what you think. I want substance people, so please speak up! If you want...
OH, and was anyone else suprised by Biden/Obama not supporting gay marriage? I understand the constitutional reasons for it, but still. I was a bit shocked that he just came right out and said it.

I know I'm voting for Obama, and I am basing that purely on his character vs. McCain's. If I can work up the nerve, I'm writing in Ron Paul.
Also, my shock and confusion and shock was not positive. I expect it from Palin, but this "moderate" BS is really irking me. I think they are defining moderate as "Let's not stir any pots" and I'm sorry, but this is one country where some pots need to be stirred, because there is a lot of stuff sticking to the bottom and turning everything into $#!*
Honestly, I think that gender discrimination is easier to get away with than racial discrimination. By "get away with" I mean that it is harder to prove and therefore easier to justify why a man got the job or the promotion or raise. I want Palin to be VP just so she can be the first female pres in case McCain conks out.
That being said, I don't think that either candidate is going to make any hill o'beans difference in regards to the economy. Which bothers me. I think that if Obama gets elected we'll be attacked on American soil before his presidency is over IF he withdraws troops from the middle east before his presidency ends. But I think we'll get attacked again within 2 years of withdrawing for sure.
So yeah, I'm voting to end the glass ceiling. Although it probably won't matter because I bet Obama wins.
Renee, just curious. What about Obama's character tells you he's better for the job, or what do you see about McCain that tells you he's not right for the job?
PS everyone. These questions are not meant to attack, I pure and simple just like hearing everyone's point of view.
McCain reeks of desperation. I just get nervous about him.
I don't trust McCain. I just plain don't trust him anymore. When I voted for him as our senator I knew a little about his war hero story, and I knew he was going to vote in favor of states' rights, and that was enough. I read about his personal life and was shaken but not totally convinced that I should base my decision on it, so I was still considering him as a viable candidate.
Then he just kind of lost who he was. He started playing the game, and that was the thing he always said he wasn't going to do. And the more he did it, the more I realized, he's always been doing it, but he's just been really good at hiding it. And people who are good at hiding things scare me. So he lost my trust. The VP choice just sealed the deal.
I think Palin is smarter than me, in some ways. I really do. But I don't think she would be a good vice president, and especially not a good president if anything happened to McCain. She doesn't know how to react decently when backed into a corner, she doesn't have a quick mind. Her sarcasm is never charming, and she relies too much on it, and she seems fake and unapproachable and out of touch with the majority of Americans. Her concerns are not my concerns. And she appears too bull-headed and set in her ways to ever even attempt to see America that way I see it.
Because she is McCain's running mate, I question McCain's judgement.
Obama hasn't really made clear HOW he is going to achieve the Change he's looking for, but I trust the guy, and I feel he has good intentions. My judgement of character is based purely on gut, with some research on their past, mixed in with an awareness and critical eye on their most recent actions. It's not scientific, so I don't think I can say it works for everyone. It's just how I feel, and I think people should go with their gut.
I fully believe McCain chose Palin purely as a retort-battle move against Obama's race card. Completely. If Obama was white and old McCain would have a white man as his VP.
Which I think is wrong! However, I'm all for the Woman (as I stated above)and by woman, I mean the glass ceiling.
I have a hypothetical. I know a lot of women (like Amy) want to vote in McCain because they want to see a woman make it, but what if that woman wasn't a pretty, mother of 5, from an easy-going state like Alaska. Let's say, hypothetically, she is a black, lesbian who has a child out of wedlock. Would the same women be voting to break the glass ceiling?
