When Dog's Attack!

Last Friday after work, actually Friday the 13th Scott went out for his run and got less than 3 minutes in when he was attacked by a DOG! I know it sounds crazy. I mean, WHO gets attacked by a dog? We live about a block away from a nice long greenbelt where tons of people run/walk all the time and many with their dogs. When Scott rounded the corner there was this german shepard, like the one in the picture sort of, that came immediately bolting right for him! The lady let the leash slip and the dog was loose and CRAZED! He began barking and growling as he ran for Scott so Scott tried to grab his collar to restrain him but the collar was really loose so the dog turned his head and tried to bite his arm. So then... Scott let go of the collar and when he did the dog knocked him down and bit his leg right above the knee. When he fell he landed on his wrist and broke it.

The best part is that the stupid owner was all nonchalant about the whole thing, like nothing had even happened. Her response was, well he’s up to date on his shots. Also, the dog had a muzzle on, but it was not properly fascened. My guess is that if you have to put a muzzle on your dog, than he's bitten someone before. Also, maybe you shouldn't bring him out for his walk at peak time when tons of other people are outside! Stupid Lady! So, the police were called and an ambulance arrived and they took him to the ER. I followed behind the ambulance in my car. The cops stayed and got all the lady’s info and took the dog to be quarantined for 10 days. They said that there hasn’t been a domestic dog bite with rabies in over 9 years in Denver so that we shouldn’t worry about that. The cop also put that we wanted restitution, which was good. So, they patched up the bite wound, casted his arm and we were out of the ER in a total of about 3 hrs. Not bad!

Scott is meeting with a lawyer who specializes in dog bites. Who knew there were lawyers who specialize in dog bites! We are not trying to get rich by any means but we do expect to be compensated for our ER bills and what not. I’m sooo not a law suit type of person, but if there’s any time for one, it’s now. So, Scott will meet with the lawyer tomorrow and have his one week check up at the Dr. tomorrow as well. He’s doing better although he can’t drive and his wrist still really hurts, so we’ll see. I’ll keep everyone posted.

That is horrible! Yeah, that owner needs to pay for everything. We have met dog owners in parks who have that same non-chalant attitude. If you have dogs in a public place, they gotta be controlled!!!

By the way, thanks for the comment about the heart rate monitor. That probably would be good for me to see how many calories I am burning.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe that! Poor guy! Well hopefully you win the case and all bills get paid for but are you sure Scott isn't suffering from extreme emotional distress?! LOL! Fight all the way guys!
