Alright, alright, I sort of liked Twilight. OK, I loved loved loved twilight. Yep, I get it now everyone. Although the book didn't make me ignore my husband for 2 weeks, or neglect my child, I must say I was captivated. I have read some pretty good books, but nothing ever has captured my heart, *barf* I know, like the magic that is Twilight. It really did take me back to my highschool days when the world revolved around the boyfriend of the month or year. My heart jumped everytime Bella would get done with gym and wonder if Edward was waiting for her at her truck. Although always feeling filled with anticipation and feeling like your heart might burst, they were good feelings to bring back via twilight. I've never understood the letdown people explain when seeing a movie that was made from a book. However I already feel almost like I don't want to see the movie because it may destroy the fantasy I've built up in my head. What her house looks like, the school, the area, Edward... although I must say I have a hard time picturing what his face or Bella's face look like. I just don't want to be let down by the movie. I can hardly believe I'm saying this because I'm SOOO not a book reader. I must confess as I said I would, Twilight, I think I'm in love with you. OK, Erin and Renee, go throw up now.
Oh, and the religious refrences wern't there as I'd expected although Scott was a little cynical when the first page had a passage from Genesis, but whatever.

Keiko's reaction to the book made me give it another shot, so I read all of Midnight Sun for free, and now I'm in the middle of Twilight for the second tme. I have to admit, it's not AS terrible as I originally decided, but here's my question:
Why can't anyone just be like, "Oh I read this book, Twilight. Not bad". People either HATE or LOVE the book. Which is a testament to its impact, for sure, but I'm still not sure that it deserves so much praise and glory. Maybe after I finish, the spell will be complete, and I too will be devoting my life to Edward.
Do you plan on reading the rest of the trilogy?
I don't know why people are so hot and cold about it. I think it's because she captures the crazy out of control hormones that teenagers have and it reminds us of how far we've come. Trust me, I didn't want to LOVE it, but i just can't deny my inner 17 yr old.
So Miss Katy, don't you think all the "Mormon" hoopla that gets attached to Twilight is just a little bizarre now that you've read it?
Totally takes you back to the *good* high school memories.
Oh, and a lot of books use that quote from genesis because it is so universally applicable. Have you ever read Mary Stewart books? Not religious by a long shot, no no, but she often uses quotes from the bible that tie in with her murders.
Ha ha! Love that you got into it. Now you just need to read the other three. Lucky you that you don't have to bide your time and wait for the new ones to come out. And kudos to Renee for giving it a chance! :)
so, i already knew you loved it but it's still good to hear again:) Besides an occasional chapter starting quote, there was really no religion present in the book at all, which surprised me.
I'm so glad you ignored the nay-sayers and went for it. just because a book is rediculous popular, doesn't mean it won't be a great read. Now, you're all set for the next three...and the movie!!
yeah, I did throw up a little. in my mouth. I just have zero desire to read these books. I have a list of books that I actually want to read, than this series that I don't want to read. I'm glad you found a book that you really liked. I don't think I have an inner 17-year-old either.
P.S. As I've said before I gave the book a chance that I needed. It wasn't for me. at all.
